strategic and tactical missiles

a strategic weapon is one designed for mass destruction like a nuclear missile. A tactical weapon, on the other hand, typically carries a conventional high explosive warhead.

Tactical:
smaller cruise missile or a bomb that travels over shrot ranges carryng a low-yield warhead. Used against battlefield targets that my change rapidly as battle conditions change.

Strategic:
Typically be targeted at a military base or city accoridng to a premeditated war plan.

Ballistic Missile:
weapon spends much of its flight in an unpowered free-fall towards the target. after lauch with a propulsion, the booseter burns out during flight. the warhead, under the influence of gravity, falls back into the atmosphere(re-entry). both tactical (SCUD) and strategic(SS-25 and Peacekeeper) .
Harder to destroy.
because of high speed and diffuclty to track as they fall from space back to the earth.
They spend a lot of money to destroy BM. (Starwars, BMD)
Launch and booster phase are the timing for ballistic missiles to be attacked.
Airborne Laser is used by the US Air force, which uses chemical laser to burn a hole and rip the vehicle apart.

Cruise: mostly remians within the atomosphere. As typically smaller, cruise missiles are usu. classified as tactical weapons.
