According to sources, the U.S. Navy has deployed at least five destroyers, all of them believed to be equipped with the Standard Missile-3, which can intercept ballistic missiles.
North Korea has said it intends to launch a rocket carrying a communications satellite between April 4 and 8. Japan, South Korea and the United States, however, believe the launch is a cover for a long-range missile test. The destroyers are expected to be deployed in waters surrounding Japan ahead of the expected launch date.
Three destroyers of the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet have entered Sasebo Port in Nagasaki since Monday. こうした代表メンバーの中で、とにかく、にぎやかなのは、塚原のようだ。皆が口をそろえて証言する。・・・もちろん陽気だといえば、皆本当に陽気だ。高平もよく通る大きな声でしゃべったり笑ったり明るい存在だし、末次がまたよくしゃべる。練習中もぽんぽんぽんぽんアップ店舗に良くしゃべる。あれだけ外側に気持ちが向いていて、よく練習になるなと思うのだが、いざ体を動かす段階になると、スイッチを切り替えるようにぐいっと集中する。・・・
ウェイトトレーニングの時も、サポートのトレーナーの人と、合間、合間は、ずっとしゃべっている。末次の練習のオン、オフの切り替えを見ているのは、すごく面白い。両方、他の人より過剰に見えるのだ。放出する陽気さ、絞っていく集中力。

thorny: complicated and difficutl to solve.
Mr. Wen's address represented a modest olive barnch to Taiwan and avoided the more hostile language the mainland had used in the past.

what do we know about recent South Korean newspaper reports that North Korean has been running a uranium enrichment plant near its main nuclear complex in Yongbyon?
We are aware of these press reports. As is standard practice, we do not comment on matters related to intelligence. The United States remains committed the Six-Party process and to working with our Six-Party partners toward the verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
